Dr Louise Franklin is Programme Leader for the BA (Hons) Art History degree and Higher Education Subject Area Lead (SAL) for the Bristol School of Art. She also teaches across several other undergraduate programmes in Art and Design and as SAL has responsibility for the portfolio of degree programmes in Art and Design offered at the Bristol School of Art. Louise is a specialist in the work of Parisian painter, Chaim Soutine (1893-1943) and the broader context of interwar European modernism in which he practiced. Her wider research is concerned with representations of intersecting identities in a range of cultural forms and contexts plus arts and humanities pedagogy. Her biography of Soutine will be published by Bloomsbury in 2023.
