If you are working in business and would like to upskill or reskill, SGS is offering two free* online modules at Level 4 (limited places available).
Module 1: Marketing & Managing a Successful Business (30 Credits)
Module 2: Human Resources Planning in Operational Management (30 Credits)
You can study one or two of these modules and gain 30/60 university credits at Level 4. On successful completion you can continue to achieve the full HNC. To register your interest and for further information email: HEAdmissions@sgscol.ac.uk. To apply click on the part-time study link top right and complete the form.
*FREE Modules are government funded. You will not pay tuition fees or be eligible for fee loans, but your student loan entitlement will be reduced by the modern equivalent of the amount of the tuition fee or actual funding (whichever is higher) to reflect government-funded study. As an example, if you have not already gained a degree and want to complete a 3 year degree, this will not affect your funding. However, your overall funding would be reduced for a fourth year of study. If you have completed a 3 year degree, you should still have 1 year of funding available (if you have not already used this allocation on another course).
What are Higher Technical Qualifications? (HTQs)?
HTQs are technical qualifications that have been developed by employers and awarding bodies, so you’ll get the right training, knowledge, and skills to succeed in the workplace.
They are based on the same set of standards as apprenticeships and T Levels and have been approved by the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education as meeting the occupational standards for the relevant sector.
There are many different types of HTQs, such as:
- higher national diplomas
- higher national certificates
- foundation degrees
- higher education diplomas
Not all diplomas, certificates and foundation degrees are approved HTQs. Look out for the HTQ logo or banner which will always show on approved qualifications.
Who are Higher Technical Qualifications for?
- They're for students over 18 who want to study a subject to prepare them for skilled jobs and for adults looking to retrain or upskill.
- They will suit you if you want a more practical, employer-led programme.
- Although Higher Technical Qualifications are primarily designed for entry into skilled employment or those looking to retrain or upskill, you could also progress to further study and/or training.
