Ruth worked extensively across both the make-up and modelmaking industries before teaching at SGS and establishing the Specialist Make-up and Prosthetics degree courses. Graduating from the London College of Fashion in 1996, she started work in West End theatre and TV as a Make-up Artist. Due to an interest in prosthetics and puppets, Ruth added modelmaking work during her early make-up career. Starting at Aardman Animations on Chicken Run, and subsequently employed on their other animated films and commercials, including Wallace & Gromit in Curse of the Wererabbit as puppet maker, specialist painter and supervisor, provided longer term contracts with freelance make-up work for 16 years. Working across industries on TV and Film productions including Poldark and The Duchess, specialising in character make-ups; and a variety of puppets, models and prop making, Ruth brings a broad range of skills and experience. Ruth has teaching experience of over 10 years and manages our degree programmes in this subject area. She also supports and advises other degree programmes and works as an Examiner for other Universities.
