Athletics student invited to England Athletics Elite Training Camp

Amazing opportunity for Athletics Academy student, Toby, to train within England Athletics Elite Training Camp.

Toby Conibear, our university student, is studying on our Applied Sports Coaching Accelerated degree and is an athlete in our Athletics Academy. Toby has had an amazing opportunity arise and has been invited by England Athletics to their Elite Training camp in Cyprus.

Toby is currently in Cyprus training in the Hammer Throw for some warm weather training. Toby is taking this incredible opportunity and is finding that it is positively impacting his training. Everyone at SGS (South Gloucestershire and Stroud) is incredibly proud to support Toby Conibear in his Elite England Athletics training camp currently being held in Cyprus.

“Toby is a great student at SGS within both his higher education studies and the Athletics Academy. Toby has been progressing year on year and is now in the Senior category for competition. Toby is a hammer thrower and has also been selected for the England Athletics Junior Talent pathway. He also trains at Yate and District AC under Coach Matt Spicer.”
Andrea Garcia-Lock - Head Athletics Coach
“I Think the main positive thing about being out here is we are doing less throws, but higher intensity (90ish %) so the throws are a lot more meaningful. Rather than normal winter training, which is just getting as much done in the 1hr30 because it is tipping it down and you want to get home.”
Toby Conibear - SGS University Centre Student

We are proud of Toby and his success so far this year. Toby is always so committed to his studies and sport, and we cannot wait to see him progress even further throughout the year.
