SGS Celebrates Creative Excellence at 2025 Degree Showcases

This June, SGS Higher Education proudly hosted its annual End of Year Degree Showcases, a vibrant celebration of student creativity, innovation, and professional talent. Bringing together a dynamic mix of disciplines, the events highlighted final-year work from across Bristol School of Art, including Fine Art, Games Design & Development, Game Art, and Specialist Make-up Design.

Held across various campus locations and public venues in Bristol, the showcases provided students with a powerful platform to present their work to industry professionals, friends, family, and the wider community.

🎨 Bristol School of Art – Fine Art Degree Show

The Fine Art exhibition, hosted at the iconic Bristol School of Art, once again captured the spirit of experimentation and personal voice that defines the programme. Visitors were treated to an impressive array of media, from large-scale installations and sculpture to painting, video, and mixed media works. The show reflected the diverse cultural and political perspectives of the graduating artists, with themes ranging from identity and nature to digital life and social change.

🎮 Game Design, Development & Game Art

In the rapidly evolving field of interactive media, the Games students delivered an equally thrilling showcase. The Games Design & Development and Game Art cohorts presented fully playable prototypes, immersive environments, and concept art portfolios that pushed the boundaries of storytelling and visual design. Projects ranged from atmospheric puzzle games to action-packed adventures, drawing interest from local studios and visiting developers alike.

💄 Specialist Make-up Design Showcase

The Specialist Make-up Design students amazed audiences with their cinematic-quality creations. Held in a studio setting that mimicked a professional production environment, the showcase featured original character designs, prosthetics, body painting, and SFX work worthy of major film sets. Students demonstrated not only artistry but also precision in technical execution and storytelling through transformation.

🏆 The BAM Awards – Bristol Academy of Media

Capping off the celebrations was the prestigious BAM Awards, held this year at the Everyman Cinema in central Bristol. The awards night recognised outstanding work from across SGS’s creative media courses. Categories celebrated excellence in animation, filmmaking, VFX, game design, make-up, and more.

Attendees enjoyed an evening of screenings, networking, and accolades—acknowledging not just the incredible student output but also the hard work, resilience, and passion that went into bringing each project to life.

These showcases stand as a testament to the talent and potential nurtured at SGS Higher Education & University Centre. We extend huge congratulations to all of our graduating students, and we look forward to seeing their careers flourish in the creative industries and beyond.
