Media students work with Bristol Children's Charity has concluded in remarkable success.

Our Media students have been working with Bristol Children's Charity. Bristol Children's Charity are a charity that aim to raise as much money as possible for as long as possible to put back into and enrich the lives of children in a less fortunate position than ourselves.

Rich Weatherson, one of our Media Lecturers first reached out to Bristol Children's Charity to offer our Media students skills to help promote the amazing work they are doing. After a visit from the Charity our students offered to get involved and create some video footage of their flagship fundraising event at the Marriott Royal Hotel that happened on Monday the 5th December.

This project gave our Media students some industry experience and showed the process of working with a client, a little taste of some work they may be doing once they have graduated. During the process, they had multiple meetings with the Charity to discuss what they do and their values. Bristol Children's Charity have a NO PAID OFFICIALS ethos which has remained intact for over 45 years.

The footage the students have created will help the charity promote next year's event, which they hope will attract even more supporters. Our students' involvement will hopefully be key to next year's event's success. This year Bristol Children's Charity managed to raise an incredible £21,077 which is a record amount of money for them, let's hope they beat that number again next year.

Students Kate and Maddie lead the project and demonstrated engagement and professionalism throughout. The students used what they have learnt so far on the degree to demonstrate to the client, their exceptional understanding of their craft and the skills they have developed.

The editing process is currently underway, and we cannot wait for Bristol Children's Charity to see the finished edit. The students have already sent the Charity a shortened version of the video for social media purposes, and they have stated that what they have received is outstanding and that if that is anything to go by, they think that main clip is going to be truly amazing.

We have had some amazing feedback from Bristol Children's Charity stating that they found the whole process to be really enjoyable and exciting.

“I cannot express enough how impressed we were with their whole attitude and their approach to this project - we are really looking forward to working with them again in the Spring on our day-to-day operations, which will hopefully demonstrate to potential supporters the necessity of the work we carry out. These students are a real credit to the SGS College, the media industry and to themselves – they should be really proud of the work they have carried out thus far.”
