Last Tuesday, we hosted our very first Annual Staff & Student Conference, an inspiring event designed to showcase the outstanding projects and research being undertaken across our institution. This conference provided staff with the opportunity to present their work to colleagues, fostering collaboration and the exchange of ideas. Towards the end of the event, attendees explored a diverse range of student-led projects exhibited in the HE Common Room, where students proudly displayed their work at individual stands.
A Celebration of Knowledge and Innovation
The theme of this year’s conference, What Counts as Knowledge?, was met with great enthusiasm. Five staff members from across our curriculum areas delivered insightful presentations, covering research and subject pedagogy from the Bristol School of Art (BSA), Bristol Academy of Media (BAM), Bristol Institute of Performing Arts (BIPA), and Bristol Academy of Sport. Their presentations exemplified best practices in education and showcased the innovative approaches shaping learning within our community.
In addition to staff presentations, over fifteen students took part in the event, representing a variety of disciplines, including Business, Art, Zoological Management, Game Art, Specialist Make-up Design, Sport, Media, and Sport Media. Their creativity, dedication, and passion were evident in their work, and their contributions were widely praised by attendees.
Overwhelmingly Positive Feedback
The response to the conference has been incredibly positive, with attendees commending the breadth of engaging presentations and the impressive quality of student projects. The event successfully provided a platform for both staff and students to share knowledge, inspire one another, and celebrate their achievements.
Looking ahead, we are excited to develop next year’s conference into an even larger event, incorporating formal student presentations alongside the display of work. This year has set a strong foundation, and we look forward to building on its success to create an even more impactful experience for our staff and students in the future.
