Celebrating the Creativity and Artistic Practice of Educators with For Demonstration Purposes

Our Bristol School of Art, queens road campus is proud to present For Demonstration Purposes, a unique exhibition celebrating the creativity and artistic practice of educators from across the UK.

The exhibition showcases artefacts, objects, samples and test pieces originally created by creative educators to demonstrate techniques, processes and ideas within teaching. While these works are often only seen in classrooms and workshops, For Demonstration Purposes brings them into a gallery setting, recognising their artistic value and the creativity behind teaching itself.

Curated by Anya Beaumont, the exhibition features work spanning a wide range of creative disciplines, offering visitors a fascinating insight into the connection between education and professional artistic practice.

Speaking about the exhibition, Anya Beaumont said:

"For Demonstration Purposes brings together artefacts, objects, samples and test pieces made by creative educators from different educational settings. Ranging from a sample of an upholstered 'squab' cushion to a tiny electroformed silver-plated bee, this diverse exhibition highlights how teaching is more than the transference of knowledge but a creative activity in its own right."

The exhibition provides a rare opportunity to appreciate the skill, experimentation and craftsmanship that support creative education every day, while celebrating the important role educators play in inspiring the next generation of artists and designers.

For Demonstration Purposes is open to the public daily from 10:00am–4:00pm until Friday 17 July at Bristol School of Art, Queens Road Campus.
