Ruby Hunt Appointed New Higher Education Student Governor

SGS College is proud to announce the appointment of Ruby as the new Higher Education Student Governor. Currently studying for a BA (Hons) in Fine Art & Material Practice at our Bristol School of Art campus, Ruby steps into this exciting role to help represent and elevate the voices of higher education students across the college.

Ruby is an active and valued member of the Learner Leadership Team at the Queens Road campus, where she plays a central role in enhancing the student experience and championing student voice. Her commitment to community building and creativity has already made a noticeable impact on campus life.

Over the past few months, Ruby has launched several successful student-led initiatives, including a clothes swap shop, her own student voice station, and a range of social and creative events most notably a well-received mini mosaic workshop. These projects reflect her dedication to sustainability, inclusivity, and fostering a vibrant student community.

In her new role as Student Governor, Ruby will serve as a full member of the SGS Corporation, the college’s governing body. She will work closely with senior leaders, external governors, and key stakeholders to help shape the strategic direction of the institution. Importantly, she will ensure that the views and needs of higher education students are represented in major decisions affecting the college’s future.

Congratulations to Ruby on this significant achievement—and thank you for your continued commitment to SGS students.
