SGS Hosts First ITMMiF Football Medicine Course in New Therapy Suite

Over the weekend of 21–22 March, SGS College proudly hosted the Intermediate Trauma Medical Management in Football (ITMMiF) course. An industry‑recognised qualification designed to equip practitioners with the essential skills required to provide advanced pitch‑side care, emergency response, and ongoing player management within football environments.

The course was delivered by a highly experienced team of trauma specialist from the FA Wales, lead by Andrew Lindley, Head of Medical at the FAW who worked alongside the SGS Sports Therapy team to bring this opportunity to life. The FAW and their tutors provided high‑quality, hands‑on training to a diverse group of learners including physiotherapists, sports therapists, rehabilitators, and team medics.

Attendees included staff from our partner clubs: Yeovil Town, Bristol City, and SGS Pride as well as practitioners who travelled from further afield, including Oxford and Hull.

This event marked a significant milestone as the first medical education course hosted in SGS’s new therapy suite, providing an excellent showcase of the college’s expanding sports provision. Representatives from The FA were highly complimentary of the facilities, the learning environment, and the professionalism of the staff involved.

SGS College is delighted to have hosted the ITMMiF course, and we hope this marks the beginning of a long‑term partnership that will allow the South West to access high‑quality football medical training without the need to travel to St George’s Park. We hope to ensure that all of our third year BSc Sports therapy learners are able to access this course onsite in their 3^rd year of the course.
