David Hockaday: A Football Journey of Player, Manager, and Academy Head, Shaping Futures at SGS

David Hockaday is a former professional footballer and currently the Head of the Male Football Academy at SGS College. He has had an illustrious career in football, both as a player and a manager.

David Hockaday began his playing career as a youth player with Billingham Synthonia. He went on to play for Blackpool, Hull City, Shrewsbury Town, Stoke City, and Swindon Town as a right-back. In his eight seasons at Blackpool, he made over 190 first-team appearances, scoring 27 goals.

After his playing career ended, David helped establish a football academy in Cirencester before becoming a First Team Coach at Watford and a Youth Team Coach at Southampton. He also spent four years as the Manager of the Conference Premier side Forest Green Rovers.

In June 2014, David became the new Head Coach of Leeds United. During February 2015, David also had a short spell as Caretaker Manager of Coventry City. In October 2015, it was announced that David Hockaday would take over as the Head Coach for National League side Kidderminster Harriers.

David has been the Head of our Male Football Academy since 2017, and he has helped change many students' lives while working at SGS. David has led the SGS HE Football Academy as we continue to move up the BUCS League.
